Five Steps To Clean Your Gaming Mouse
If you are an avid user of your gaming mouse and play games often, then it is important to clean your gaming mouse regularly to ensure that it is bacteria-free. Cleaning your gaming mouse can help to maintain its pristine condition, and prolong the lifespan of your gaming mouse. However, not many people know how to properly clean their mouse. If you are someone that uses your gaming mouse very frequently, read on to find out the proper steps on how you can get a clean gaming mouse.
Unplug The Mouse from The Computer
The first thing you will need to do is to unplug the mouse from the back of the computer. This makes cleaning the gaming mouse easier as you will be able to flip the mouse freely. This also prevents electricity from flowing through the mouse so that you can safely clean the mouse.
Remove The Mouse Panel
You can start by removing the bottom panel of the mouse by either pushing forward or rotating it clockwise slightly. You can look out for instructions on the manual or at the bottom of the mouse.
Clean The Rollerball
After you have taken out the panel, slowly take out the rollerball. Prepare a lint-free cloth and soak that piece of cloth with alcohol. You can then use the cloth to wipe the roller ball clean. Once that is done, set it aside for it to dry off completely. If you notice that there is crud accumulated on the ball, gently scrape it off and use rubbing alcohol to wipe the rollers underneath. Do be careful not to use anything pointy or sharp as it may damage the ball, which has a spongy texture.
Get Rid of Dust And Dirt
If you notice any dust or dirt, you can remove that as well. With a hairdryer, you can blow out any loose dust or dirt within the mouse. You can also use your own mouth to blow.
Reassemble The Mouse
After you are done, it is time to reassemble the mouse. Your mouse should now be clean and ready to use. The more you use your mouse, the more frequently you should clean it to ensure it is in good condition and free of nasty germs and bacteria.
Clean The Trackball
If you want to clean the trackball, all you have to do is pop out the trackball from the mouse. It is usually made of glass, marble, or plastic. You can follow the steps above to clean the trackball and lubricate the trackball with some oil. Once that is done, put the trackball back in place.
